MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (July 18, 2019) – West Shore Home today announced it proudly sponsored three chapters of the Paralyzed Veterans of America in the 2019 National Veterans Wheelchair Games held in Louisville, Kentucky. The sponsorship helped cover the cost of their travel, lodging and meal expenses for the annual event. The chapters included the Keystone Chapter, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter (covering North Carolina and Virginia) and the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter.

“Being able to sponsor these amazing athletes in the 2019 National Veterans Wheelchair Games is a tremendous privilege,” said B.J. Werzyn, founder and CEO of West Shore Home. “West Shore Home is always honored to lend a hand to the brave men and women who selflessly served our country.”

Joseph Dornbrock, executive director of the Paralyzed Veterans of America Keystone Chapter, said, “We are humbled by West Shore Home’s sponsorship in support of our courageous athletes. The National Veterans Wheelchair Games are something our members look forward to every year, so it is uplifting to see organizations like West Shore Home support programs that benefit our disabled veterans.”

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games serve veterans with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, amputations and other central neurological impairments with the goal to increase their healthy activity and quality of life through wheelchair sports and recreation. Veterans are exposed to wheelchair sports as part of their rehabilitation to improve function, independence and activity in their home communities.

The Keystone, Mid-Atlantic and Florida Gulf Coast teams won a combined 100 gold medals, 48 silver medals and 37 bronze medals. The Keystone and Mid-Atlantic teams placed 2nd and 3rd overall in the games. Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed in the games and thank you for the sacrifices you made to protect our country.
